Hey guys I am again here with one more review on an Indian series that is booming on Internet now a days. Aashram is  an MX original series. It has been directed by Prakash Jha. prakash jha packs quite a punch, the producer-director showing the misuses of religion and politics by people. It is basically an alarm for people who follow religion blindly and on other side how other  people mishandling religion for their own sake. It is a nine-episode series which basically rest on the theme of a manufactured personality cult.

At the start of series when the very first scene opens, a teenage girl brutally hitting her hostel warden. It creates doubts in the mind of viewers. The story runs in the flashback. We are introduced to a wrestling match between two girls, one belonging high class and other from Dalit class which clearly portrays the indifference towards the Dalit girl. Then comes a scene where the higher class society beats up a bunch of Dalit people who are taking their Marrige ‘Baaraat’ from their colony.

Then we are introduced to Babaji, Bobby Deol has played the role: who is not a ‘god man’ but a ‘conman’ who helps the needy. But it seems like the Guru is no God. The twist and turnover of events is what makes it worth watching. The real face behind being a Babaji is a suspense. The dreams he sees shows that he is charged guilty for his deed. There is a  mystery behind the dialogue that, “Once you come to the ashram, you can never go back” is the one which needs to be decoded and a suspenseful verdict.

We have been told that Season 2 will deliver the full picture.

Bobby Deol is playing a solid presence in the series and besides his solid presence, Aashram is buoyed by great performances by Aaditi Pohankar, Anupriya Goenka, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Tushar Pandey, Tridha Choudhury  and Vikram Kochchar.

The concept and ideas of the series serves as neat metaphor for caste basis politics with an  deep intense undercurrent of immorality and how some people in society takes the advantage of these indifferences. It’s a sure fire success for MX Player.
